MAWANI’s Expansion
Recently, it was announced that the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam is set to join the SIG service by Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Samudera Shipping Line Ltd (SAMU). This service will connect the port to several key destinations in South East Asia and India, including Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Kochi in India, Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Jebel Ali in the UAE. The port will now be making regular weekly trips using a vessel with a capacity of 2,700 TEU.
The King Abdulaziz Port features 43 fully serviced and equipped berths, capable of accommodating large ships, with a vast area of 19 square kilometers. This allows it to handle various types of cargo, with a capacity of 105 million tonnes of goods and containers.
MAWANI’s Collaborations
Aside from this expansion, MAWANI has also been focusing on collaborations to boost sustainability and joint works. Last year, they signed an agreement with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) to enhance collaboration across sustainability, marine safety, and oil spill control. More recently, they also partnered with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information to raise the level of planning for joint works.
