The Council Port Authority of Valencia has approved the specifications for the tender of a new terminal located in the northern expansion of PAV. This decision comes after receiving contracting authorization from the Spanish Government.
The new terminal project has a budget of more than €660 million and was approved by the PAV Board of Directors in December 2022. The Port of Valencia has also been proactive in promoting sustainable transport and has reported a significant increase in traffic.
The Approval of Specifications for the New Terminal
The Council Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has given the green light to the specifications for the tender of a new terminal in an Extraordinary Board of Directors meeting. This new terminal is set to be located in the northern expansion of PAV. The contracting authorisation from the Spanish Government on 19 December enabled the PAV to accept the specifications and initiate the process leading to the construction of the new container terminal. President of the PAV, Mar Chao, emphasized the urgency of the project, stating that “there is not a minute to lose” after the meeting.
Budget and Recent Developments
The basic tender budget for the new terminal construction project, including dredging, quay, and consolidated fill, exceeds €660 million ($726 million). The project was approved by the PAV Board of Directors at a meeting on 2 December 2022. In addition to this project, the PAV has also been active in other initiatives such as promoting sustainable transport and reporting an increase in traffic in recent months.
