VBS in One Month

About

PSA Penn Terminals is a privately-owned, multipurpose marine terminal located in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, and a subsidiary of the PSA Group, a leading global port operator.

Known for its reliable and efficient handling of various cargo types, PSA Penn Terminals is strategically positioned on the Delaware River with convenient access to major highways and on-dock rail service.

Challenge

PSA Penn needed a solution to manage truck traffic flow and reduce terminal congestion. The solution needed to integrate with existing IT infrastructure while supporting future IT upgrades towards automation.

Critical constraint: Extremely tight deadline requiring go-live within just one month.

Deployment

DMSLOG deployed its Vehicle Booking System (VBS) as a “standalone” solution that can be connected to PSA Penn’s automated IT systems in the future.

Despite the short timeframe, rollout was conducted in phases:

Configuration
Beta testing with volunteer carriers
Commissioning for entire trucking community
Two-week hybrid phase with optional appointments
Results
Go-live achieved in 1 month
Efficient truck traffic flow management
Reduced terminal congestion
Improved operational efficiency
Seamless user experience for carriers
Turnkey solution delivered on time

CMA CGM

RIVER AI – Modal Shift Tool

About

CMA CGM is a global leader in shipping and logistics, operating in 160 countries with a strong commitment to sustainable development and innovation.

They offer end-to-end solutions for all types of cargo, leveraging technology and expertise to optimize supply chains and meet evolving customer needs.

Challenge

CMA CGM sought to increase the modal share of rail and inland waterways for cargo leaving the Port of Marseille Fos, aiming for a more sustainable and efficient transport system.

This required optimizing distribution between rail, waterways, and road transport while enhancing promotional efficiency and ensuring economic competitiveness.

Solution & Impact

DMSLOG developed RIVER AI, an AI-powered decision support system that provides a comprehensive overview of transport options in real-time, considering transit times, carbon impact, and costs.

Stacking Strategy Optimization

About

CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal is a subsidiary of COSCO, the 4th world shipping line.

It is a port of call for the world’s major shipping companies and has an important connection of feeder services between the Mediterranean and Africa. It has become the main gateway for containerized goods to the Iberian Peninsula as well as the natural port of Madrid.

Challenge

The terminal lacked visibility on the exit of its import containers and wanted to use all available data to gain this visibility.

The goal was to provide a supervision tool to TOS operators and yard managers to reduce non-productive moves on import containers by predicting the exit sequence.

Deployment

Three major steps:

Modelization on 1 block
Extension on multiblocks
Integration to the TOS strategy
